About Steve Gramley

Steve is a recent graduate from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Media Arts and Animation. After his first Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Traditional Animation from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, he decided to continue his education with a concentration on the 3D side.

Alright, so enough of the third person talk. Who are we kidding? I'm just another guy trying to make it in this crazy, hectic animation world. So who am I and why art? My passion for the arts started when I was a young child. I would draw with crayons in the car on long road trips to keep myself occupied. I think my parents forced me into that so I wasn't asking them every 5 minutes "are we there yet?" But I'm glad they did. It opened my eyes to a fantastic world. I used to take still pictures of my GI Joe figures and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles battling it out in the sandbox, hoping to capture the action that was in my head. Waiting for the film to develop was always painstakingly long. But once I started in the Animation Program at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, the waiting was over. I was able to create movement from a piece of paper and a pencil... and a rather massive animation stand at the time. After graduating with a degree in Traditional Animation, I found that 3D Modeling and Animation was my next step. I taught myself Lightwave 3D over the course of a year or so, and started my freelance work doing web and industrial animations for smaller companies around the Pittsburgh area. Unfortunately, freelance work didn't pay the bills as much as I would've liked, so I worked my way into the property management field. At the time, I was living in Cleveland, Ohio and really enjoyed the area. But the art and animation was not there. So I found myself moving to Pittsburgh, where I currently reside, and absolutely love it here. I was able to continue work in property management and stay afloat. My desire for learning more about 3D Animation was still there, and after a brief discussion with my family, I decided to enroll at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Working full-time during the day and even on weekends, then taking classes at night, and attempting to have somewhat of a social life was rough, but totally worth it. I learned so much during those 4+ years at AIP involving Storyboarding, Character Design, 3D Modeling, 2D and 3D Animation, Motion Graphics, and just art in general. But I know that I still have so much more to learn and look forward to finding that knowledge in the Animation Industry.

Services

Over my many years in the art field, I've picked up a few different skills and a lot of knowledge pertaining to art production, animation, and even a little graphic design. I've done a lot of freelance work over the past several years involving 3D modeling and animation, 2D and 3D logo design, as well as 2D and 3D floor plan layouts for the property management world. But that's not all that I can offer...
